    Flexdrive personal mileage plans

You can use your Express Drive rental for personal use. Personal miles are the miles you drive when your Lyft app is off. Hertz renters have unlimited personal miles.

    How it works

You’ll choose your personal mileage plan when you sign up for Express Drive.
Miles gained while driving with Lyft won’t count towards your personal mileage plan. For example, if your plan is 250 personal miles per week, and you drove 75 miles with Lyft, you’ll still have 250 personal miles.
When you’re not in Driver mode, we’ll track your personal miles through vehicle activity.
Swipe up on the Lyft Driver app’s main screen when you’re not in Driver Mode to view how many personal miles you've used.
You can't change your personal mileage plan for the current week, but you can change it for the next week in the ‘Your Vehicles’ tab.
Prorating personal miles Your personal miles amount is prorated in the first week of the rental, so it may be less than the plan's amount. Here’s an example:
    1. You sign up for a 200 personal mile weekly plan.
    2. You start your rental in the middle of the week.
    3. You'll have 85 personal miles for the rest of the week.
Flexdrive renters only: Driving on other platforms counts toward your personal miles. You can adjust your Flexdrive plan each week to suit your schedule. Hertz renters only: You’re not allowed to drive on other platforms while renting with Hertz.

Tracking personal miles and extra mileage

Personal miles are tracked through the rental vehicle's activity, like other rental car companies. Every time you turn off the vehicle, the tracker will display updated mileage for every 5 miles driven.
Swipe up on the app’s main screen when you’re not in Driver Mode to view how many personal miles you've used.
Exceeding mileage limit If you exceed the mileage limit, an overage fee applies to cover the cost of extra personal mileage. Overage fee amounts vary based on region.
To view your overage fee amounts:
    1. Open the app’s main menu, then tap the ‘Vehicles and Devices’ tab.
    2. Tap ‘Your Vehicles,’ then tap ‘See details’ for your Express Drive rental.
    3. Tap ‘View weekly rental cost.’
    4. Tap ‘Rental taxes and fees.’
Any overage fees (plus tax) are added to your Express Pay Rental Hold during the current week.

    Changing your plan

You can't change your personal mileage plan for the current week, but you can change it for the next week in the ‘Your Vehicles’ tab. To change your personal mileage plan:
    1. Open the app’s main menu, then tap the ‘Vehicles and Devices’ tab.
    2. Tap ‘Your Vehicles,’ then tap ‘See details’ for your Express Drive rental.
    3. Tap 'Change mileage plan.'
