Driver and passenger ratings

At the end of the ride, drivers and passengers can rate each other on a scale of 1-5 stars, 5 being the best. Our two-way rating system helps ensure the safety and comfort of the Lyft community.
You should base your rating on your ride experience. You'll have the option to provide specific feedback, so we know which areas to improve.

Rating your driver
You can rate your driver on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the highest. If you rate a driver 3 stars or lower, you won't be paired with them again.
You’ll have at least 2 hours to rate a driver through the Rate & Pay screen once a ride has been completed.
To support our driver community, drivers automatically receive a 5-star rating if you don't rate the driver at the end of the ride.
If you think you have mistakenly given a driver the incorrect rating, tap on the 'Contact Support' button below.
In select regions, you’ll also have the option to favourite or block a driver after your ride. When you favourite a driver, you’ll have a better chance of matching with them again for a future scheduled ride.
Favourite a driver
In select eligible regions, you may also have the option to favorite a driver after your ride. When you favorite a driver, you’ll have a better chance of matching with them again for a future scheduled ride.
If eligible, you can favourite a driver immediately after a ride ends or through your ride history:
1. Select ‘You’
2. Select ‘Ride History’
3. Select the ride with the driver you want to favourite
4. Under ‘Ride’, select ‘Favourite this driver’
They'll get a heads up that someone favourited them, but don't worry - they won't see your name to keep things private.
How it works
Once you have a favourite driver and book a scheduled ride, we’ll first check to see if any of your favourite drivers are available and interested.
We'll do our best to match you with your favourite drivers for scheduled rides. If none of your favourites are available or interested, we'll match you with another driver in your area.
Note: This feature is only available for scheduled rides.
Remove a favourite
You can unfavourite a driver at any time and they won't receive any notification about the change.
To remove a favourite driver:
1. Select ‘You’
2. Select ‘Safety Hub’
3. Select ‘Favourite a driver’
4. Select ‘Remove from favourites’
Block a driver
If you ever feel uncomfortable in a ride, you can block the driver so you never match with them again.
Need to report a safety concern? Please let us know immediately so we can take appropriate action.
You can block a driver as soon as the ride ends or through your Ride history:
1. Select ‘You’
2. Select ‘Ride History’
3. Select the ride with the driver you want to block
4. Under ‘Ride’, select ‘Block this driver’
Drivers won’t know they’re blocked, and it won’t affect their rating.
Rating your passenger
You’ll get a chance to rate your passenger after you drop off the ride. You can let us know about any issues you had with your passenger when you rate them.
If you don't select a rating for your passenger, the app will automatically rate them 5 stars.
After you end the ride, you get 24 hours to provide a rating in the Earnings tab:
  1. Tap on your earnings at the top of the home screen.
  2. Tap ‘See all activity.’
  3. Select the ride.
  4. Tap 'Rate Passengers.'
If you rate a passenger 3 stars or lower, you won't be paired with them again. Passenger ratings can’t be submitted through the web.
How Lyft calculates ratings
Driver rating
Your driver rating is the average of your last 100 ratings. If you have less than 100 rides, your driver rating is the average of all your ratings received so far.
To view your ratings, tap 'Feedback & Rewards' then tap 'Your Feedback.'
Passengers can write anonymous feedback about their ride. We’ll email you a summary every week with passenger feedback or areas you can improve on.
Consistently low ratings can put you at risk of deactivation. If your rating is below 4.8, you may want to consider ways to improve it. Tap the ‘Learning Centre’ tab in the app for 5-star driving tips.
Passenger rating
Your rider rating is an average of your last 100 rides. If you have fewer than 100 rides, your rating is the average of all your rides. Ratings may say 'new' if you have fewer than 25 rides.
To see your rating in the app:
  1. Tap ‘View account.’
  2. View your rating, ride count, and time spent with Lyft.
Be sure to follow our Community Guidelines during your ride. Guideline violations or consistent low ratings can put your account at risk of deactivation.
If you receive a rating of 3 stars or lower multiple times, your account may be temporarily suspended. Riders that continue to receive ratings of 3 stars or lower, even after multiple warnings, may be permanently deactivated.
We rely on the star rating input from multiple drivers to determine suspension and deactivation.
Unfair ratings
If you feel that a driver or passenger rated you poorly due to something out of your control, you can request a review through the app.
To dispute a rating:
  1. Tap 'Ride history.'
  2. Select the ride you want to provide feedback on.
  3. Tap 'Get help.'
  4. Select the reason for your feedback before submitting.
Lyft can exclude the lowest rating received out of your last 100 rides. Requests for multiple rating exclusions aren’t guaranteed.
