Document requirements
Saskatchewan Vehicle Registration and Insurance Documentation
Your vehicles must be registered in Class LV (light vehicle). You must have a current vehicle registration that complies with The Vehicles for Hire Act. Learn more about vehicle registration here.
Once Lyft has submitted your information to SGI (Saskatchewan General Insurance), a rideshare indicator will be added to your vehicle registration. The new certificate can then be printed from home and should be kept in your vehicle. This certificate is also proof that you hold SGI personal vehicle insurance.
Vehicle inspection
To drive with Lyft in Saskatchewan, your vehicle must pass an annual inspection and receive a Light Vehicle Inspection Certificate to keep in your vehicle at all times when operating.
To find an inspection station accredited by SGI, go here.
Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
If you drive in Regina, you can obtain a Criminal Record Check with a VSC from the Regina Police Service by:
  • Applying through the Regina Police Service’s online records check portal here.
  • Visiting the Regina Police Service’s office in person. Learn more here.
When requesting your cheque, indicate 'Rideshare' as the purpose and list Lyft as the requesting agency.
If you are approved, the police will share this information with Lyft. You’ll receive a Certificate of Approval that you aren't required to upload in the Lyft Driver app.
If you drive in Saskatoon, you can obtain your VSC from the police department in the city where you reside or any Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) department. Once completed, you must upload photos of your results in your Driver Dashboard within 90 days.
