Prime Time amounts vary based on the number of drivers available compared to the number of ride requests.
When demand for rides is higher than the number of available drivers on the road, passengers may pay an extra percentage on top of the base ride amount. For example, a ride that is $6 without Prime Time, costs the passenger $9 when 50% Prime Time is added.
Prime Time only adds a percentage to the ride subtotal, which is calculated before the Service Fee, taxes and airport fees, or other additional amounts. For Line, Prime Time is calculated based on the first passenger that a driver accepts in a chain.
Before a ride: you can view Prime Time on the Heat Map in the Lyft Driver app. If a ride has a pickup location in a pink square, then Prime Time will be applied. Note: Prime Time is based on a ride's pickup location, not the location of the driver during ride request.
When you receive a ride request: you can view Prime Time on the 'Accept Screen' for each ride.
End of ride: verification of Prime Time for the ride will be displayed immediately. This amount will also show in the 'Ride History' tab of the Lyft Driver app for you to look back on any time.
You may also see a banner on your app with a range of Prime Time in effect in your area. This banner will give you an idea of what some passengers near you are paying in Prime Time, but doesn't represent a guarantee of Prime Time.
Guaranteed Prime Time is a way for drivers to boost earnings while providing rides for passengers during the busiest times.
For major holidays, promotions, or events in certain markets, drivers may be notified about guaranteed Prime Time as a text message, email, or in the app. During guaranteed Prime Time, rides include Prime Time earnings at or above the promotional amount.
Heat Maps let you see where you may be needed most. Prime Time fluctuates rapidly, so if you don't see the Heat Map, don't worry!
Prime Time is calculated using the location of passengers when they make a ride request. That means even if you're waiting in a shaded area, ride requests you receive may not include Prime Time.
