How to use destination mode

Ever wished you could pick up a passenger during your morning commute? What about on the way to the store, or home from a night of driving? We're thrilled to have a solution: destination mode.

Skip to:

About destination mode

If you're a driver, you can tap the arrow in the top right corner and select 'Add destination filter.' You'll be prompted to enter your destination: home, work, the post office, or your favorite coffee shop. The possibilities are up to you!

When the destination mode is activated, you'll only receive requests from passengers along your route, going your direction. If you don't receive a request within 15 minutes, you'll be signed out of destination and driver mode so you can get on your way.

Destination mode can be activated in all regions where Lyft is available and will pair you with passengers requesting any ride type. Ride requests look like the same: destination mode simply filters out Lyft requests that aren't going your way.

How often you can use destination mode

Any ride requests not accepted while in destination mode are still factored in your acceptance rate.

You can complete up to six destination mode sessions each day. Entering destination mode counts as a session regardless of whether you receive a ride request.

Days end at midnight your local time, when you'll be able to set your destination once again.

Destination mode and bonuses

Your acceptance rate won't be affected while in destination mode because requests will only be from passengers along or very close to your route.

Time spent in destination mode doesn't count as time in driver mode. While in destination mode, time spent driving doesn't go toward Average Hourly Guarantees. However, rides given in destination mode do count toward Power Driver Bonus and Power Zones.

How to exit destination mode

Flexibility is key, so you can change your mind at any time. Tap the 'X' next to the destination address, and you'll be all set to receive regular ride requests.
