Changes to Premium ride types

Starting April 30, we are updating our vehicle eligibility and your make and model may no longer be eligible for Extra Comfort rides. You can continue to drive other ride types that you qualify for.
Below is the list of eligible vehicles that will go into effect on April 30 for existing vehicles.
Note: Extra Comfort is only available in select regions.

Why is Lyft making these changes?
We are making these changes to simplify and improve our platform. Riders today have too many ride options, so they aren’t requesting Lux and Preferred as often as before. This is causing more downtime between rides for drivers and lower earnings overall.
What’s happening to other ride types?
No changes. Other ride types including Standard, Black, Black SUV, and XL will continue to be available, based on your account status, vehicle eligibility, and region. There are no changes to eligibility to these other ride types at this time.
Will Lyft inform me when the changes go into effect on October 18?
Yes. After October 18, 2023, you will receive an email that will notify you when changes go into effect in your region. If you received notice about a driving exception or bonus on September 18, 2023, specific information about this will be included in the follow-up email after October 18, 2023.
What will happen to my ride preferences after October 18?
Once these changes go into effect, your ride preferences will update in your Driver app based on your new eligibility.
To view your ride preferences:
  1. Open the main menu, then tap 'Vehicles and Devices.'
  2. Tap 'Your Vehicles.'
  3. Tap 'See details' on your active vehicle.
  4. View your available ride types.
The ride types you have access to depend on your:
  1. Vehicle eligibility.
  2. Account eligibility.
  3. Region.

XL + Extra Comfort eligible:
  1. All Ride Types (Standard, XL, Extra Comfort)

  2. Premium Only (Extra Comfort, Black)

What is an Extra Comfort driving exception?
If you are eligible for an Extra Comfort legacy exception, you should have received notice via email on September 18, 2023. Your ride preferences will update to include Extra Comfort rides on October 18, 2023, and you’ll be able to drive Extra Comfort through April 30, 2024. This driving exception is intended to help ease the transition for you after Lux availability ends.
Note: you will need to maintain all account-related eligibility to keep this driving exception, including:
  1. Completed at least 100 trips.
  2. Maintain a minimum rating of 4.85.
  3. 0 safety flags in past 20 rides.
  4. No more than 1 cleanliness flag in past 20 rides.
What should I know about the bonus I received?
Drivers eligible for a bonus as of September 18, 2023, will be able to receive a bonus when the changes go into effect in their region. This will occur from October 18, 2023, through the beginning of November.
The bonuses specific to each tier are:
  1. Platinum Drivers will receive $2 on every ride completed for six weeks after Lux availability ends. This is capped at $50 per week.
  2. Gold Drivers will receive $2 on every ride completed for six weeks after Lux availability ends. This is capped at $30 per week.
  3. Express Drive renters (excluding Platinum drivers) will receive a weekly $20 bonus for 12 consecutive weeks after Lux availability ends. Drivers must complete a minimum of 20 rides per week to get this bonus.
Bonuses will be added to your account on a weekly basis for 6 weeks.
Note: the bonus is limited to one per driver, even if you have multiple vehicles on your account.
Why didn’t I receive a driving exception or bonus?
Unfortunately, only drivers disproportionately impacted by the changes to Lux and Preferred have received bonuses to help ease the transition and bridge earnings gaps.
