Apply to drive
If you're applying to become a driver in Vermont, check out the application steps.
Drivers are required to display the Lyft emblem while in driver mode. Refer to the image above for where to place your Lyft emblem.
If you’ve just been approved to drive, you should receive your Lyft emblem shortly. If you didn't get one or need a new one, place an order in your Dashboard. While waiting for it to arrive, you may print a temporary emblem.
You are an approved driver, your ride is decked out with all the right things in all the right places, and you're no stranger to the ins and outs of driving with Lyft.

- View your insurance in the app: Settings > Car > Lyft insurance.
- You can access Lyft’s Certificates of Insurance, including specific coverage limits here.
- Depending on its terms, your personal insurance might not provide any coverage while you are logged into the App, or engaged in a prearranged ride.
- You must notify your personal insurance and/or any lienholders to advise that you will be using your vehicle to provide TNC services.
- If the vehicle you use to provide Lyft rides has a lien against it, using the vehicle for transportation network company services may violate the terms of your contract with the lienholder.
- If Lyft’s insurer makes a payment for a claim covered under comprehensive coverage or collision coverage, Lyft’s insurer will issue the payment directly to the business repairing the personal vehicle or jointly to the owner of the personal vehicle and the primary lienholder on the covered personal vehicle.
- Prior to providing TNC services, you shall review our Zero-Tolerance policy, Anti-Discrimination policy, Service Animal policy, and Wheelchair policy.
- In addition to reporting a concern or problem directly to Lyft here, passengers may also register a complaint or concern by contacting the Burlington Taxi Administration Office emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 802-865-7011.
- Set your vehicle up correctly every time you drive
- Follow all airport rules
- Do not accept street hails
- Do not accept cash for rides
- Do not wait in taxi lines

In addition to Lyft's mandatory break requirement, Vermont regulations require that drivers spend no more than 12 hours operating a vehicle within a 24-hour period.
Drivers on the Lyft platform are required to maintain current documents (license, registration, insurance). Always update your documents via the Dashboard when they expire.
If you're already a driver in a different state, and you're moving to Vermont, send us a message with the following info:
- The date you're moving
- Your new shipping address
- A clear photo of your vehicle registration*
*If you were already required to upload your vehicle registration when you became a driver, you do not need to send it in again.
Please note, your vehicle must be from 2009 or newer in order to qualify for Lyft in Vermont.
