Lyft issues two fees per ride: the Lyft Platform Fee and the Service Fee.
The Lyft Platform Fee is a variable amount that helps us maintain the platform, make new app improvements, and keep our community growing. The amount reflects the difference between what the passenger paid and your earnings, tips, tolls, and other charges (like airport fees and taxes).
The Service Fee is a fixed amount that helps support regulatory, safety and operational costs. The Service Fee is included in the passenger’s total fare and doesn’t impact the amount you earn for each ride.
Lyft doesn't take fees from tips.
Lyft’s fees don’t change your Base Rate, Time Rate, and Distance Rate. If you applied after 12 AM on Jan. 1, 2016, your rates will still be 75% of passengers' time, distance and base rates shown on the Cities page. If you applied before 12 AM on Jan. 1, 2016, your rates will be 80% of the passenger's time, distance and base rates.
