Law enforcement requests

This page has guidance for users and law enforcement agencies located in areas outside of the US where Lyft operates.
Lyft's policy is to review requests for user data. Data from outside the US must be consistent with laws of relevant countries and US policies. Info requests from countries where Lyft doesn't operate should follow the relevant Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) or similar process, such as letters rogatory.
Canadian requests
Canadian law enforcement can submit requests for user data related to Lyft’s Canadian operations. All data requests should be submitted through our online form here.
Questions about Lyft’s response process and requests about emergencies or urgent investigations, as defined by Lyft’s Law Enforcement Guidelines, can be emailed directly to LER@lyft.com
Canadian authorities don't need to go through the MLAT process for requests about basic identifying information on riders or drivers as long as proper and valid process is issued under Canadian law.
Lyft reserves the right to direct requesters to the MLAT process depending on the type of user info requested. Lyft will review all requests for Canadian user data consistent with US and Canadian law, as appropriate, as well as Lyft’s policies.
