Submitting or updating your tax info
Tax details help Lyft report your earnings to the IRS once the year is over. Failure to keep this information accurate may result in your inability to receive payouts.
If you need to update your tax details, follow these steps:
  1. From the Lyft Driver app, open the main menu.
  2. Tap ‘Account.’
  3. Tap ‘Pay and Tax Info.’
  4. Tap ‘Your tax info.’
If your tax classification is an individual or single member LLC:
  1. Enter your full name as it appears on your Social Security Card (including any middle names).
  2. Enter your Social Security Number or ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number).*
  3. Address you will use on your personal tax return.
*This information should exactly match what is on your Social Security card if you’re using your SSN, or should match your IRS documentation from when you were issued your taxpayer identification number if using your ITIN.
If your tax classification is a Corporation or LLC, you will enter:
  1. Full business name that is associated with your EIN.
  2. Employer Identification Number (EIN).*
  3. Current business address.
*This information should match your IRS documentation from when you were issued your business name and EIN (EIN 147C Letter).
Your tax information will be available in your account. If you want to receive your tax forms in the mail as well, uncheck the box at the bottom of the page.
Failed transfers
If you get a failed transfer notice, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to update your bank info. For failed Express Pay transfers, we’ll send a text. We’ll try to deposit your earnings again immediately after you update your bank account information, even if you enter the same account info.
If you don't update your bank account information, we'll try to deposit your earnings the following Tuesday to whatever bank account information is still on file.
Transfers begin Tuesdays and usually show up in your account within 1–3 business days.
You may get a failed transfer if you:
  1. Haven't entered both your banking or tax info yet.
  2. Provided incorrect banking info (such as mis-typed routing or account number).
  3. Use a business or savings account (we only transfer to personal checking accounts).
  4. Didn't respond to the text, email, or notification asking you to confirm your bank info, which you’ll receive after you've submitted or updated bank info.
  5. Have a bank that doesn't accept Automated Clearing House (or ACH, a kind of electronic transfer).
Note: Most banks accept ACH transfers, but you may need to confirm with your bank if you’re having issues receiving your deposit.
If you're still not sure why you're receiving failed transfer notices, contact your bank. Confirm your account status, your account number, and the bank's routing number.
