The following information applies to all airports:
Airport officials will issue administrative citations to drivers who do not follow the rules. You are responsible for paying any tickets you receive for violating airport rules and regulations.
Note: The time you spend waiting in an airport queue won’t be counted towards the 12-hour limit.
Lyft emblem
- Keep your Lyft emblem displayed and visible at all times while giving Lyft rides.
- If you are giving a non-Lyft ride at the airport, make sure to remove your emblem before entering airport property.
- If you’ve just been approved to drive, you should receive your Lyft emblem shortly. If you didn't get one or need a new one, order one in your Dashboard. While waiting for it to arrive, you may print a temporary emblem.
Conduct at the airport
- Do not stop or pull over in crosswalks.
- Do not park in red zones or taxi/shuttle areas unless otherwise specified in the rules above.
- Always follow instructions given by airport personnel.
- If you run into any trouble, like a regulatory citation, reach out to our Support team. We're here to help 24/7.
Waybill
Airport authorities may ask you for a waybill, which shows your latest ride. Click here to learn how to access your waybill.
Permitted Airports
Lyft is available at the following airports in Georgia. Drivers on the Lyft platform are responsible for knowing and following all airport regulations in order to avoid receiving administrative citations from the airport.
Tap each airport name for detailed instructions:
Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL)
Effective 01/01/2024: As a Lyft driver, you are only allowed to pick up at ATL airport if your vehicle’s age is 2014 or newer, and you have the 2024 green colored airport placard. If your vehicle is 2013 or older, you can continue dropping off passengers at ATL as usual, but you can't enter the staging lot or pickup queue. Entering the staging lot or pickup queue with a vehicle that is 2013 or older may result in deactivation.
ATL Airport will issue citations to drivers who do not follow these rules. You are responsible for paying any tickets you receive for violating airport rules and regulations.
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a citation and/or suspension from rideshare at the airport.
Waiting for requests:
- Head back to the staging area if a passenger cancels on you. Passenger cancellations will not affect your place in the queue. As long as you're back within 15 minutes, you'll be placed at the front of the queue.
- You may see multiple airport staging lots in the app. You can choose any available lots and it won't affect your place in the queue. The app will show how many drivers are waiting in each staging lot.
- Follow instructions from Airport Security personnel and do not attempt to evade personnel if a citation is being issued.
- Ensure Lyft decals are placed on both the front and back of your vehicle and your airport placard is clearly visible on your rearview mirror.
- Don't wait anywhere but in the designated staging area pictured above. Drivers outside the designated staging area will not be added to the queue. TNC drivers will only be added to the queue once they are in the designated rideshare TNC staging area.
- If you exit the staging area or log out of driver mode, you'll lose your spot in the queue. The queue is first in-first out. Your physical location within the staging area does not affect your spot in the queue.
- Don't enter the rideshare assembly lot with limousine or livery plates, as it may result in a fine from the airport. Black Car Drivers in vehicles with limousine or livery plates will only be added to the queue once they are in the designated Black Car staging area. Livery drivers should open their Lyft app once at the airport to see the geofenced waiting queue area to give a ride.
- Don't enter the staging area from 3am - 4am, since that is when staging lot cleaning occurs. Please vacate the staging area during this time.
- Driver cancellations and missed requests do affect your place in line. You can miss or decline up to 3 rides before getting placed at the back of the queue.

Pickups:
- DO
- Pick up passengers from the designated Rideshare pickup area, located at the North Economy Parking lot, at any time. If the designated Rideshare pickup area is temporarily unavailable for any reason, passengers may be picked up at the lower Arrivals level of either terminal.
- Use the designated Rideshare entrance lanes for access to the pick-up location at the North Economy Parking lot, where it is not required to pull a parking ticket.
- For international terminal pickups, please pickup at the arrivals terminal.
- Ensure your airport hangtag is clearly displayed on your rearview mirror and both Lyft decals are clearly visible on the front and back of your vehicle, prior to entering the staging area or pickup area.
- DO NOT...
- Pickup passengers anywhere except the designated pickup area in the North Economy lot.
- Wait for your passenger curbside if a passenger is delayed. Airport security will issue citations to drivers that wait curbside for delayed passengers. If your passenger is delayed, please circle back or wait in the staging lot until your passenger is ready to be picked up.
- Enter the designated pickup area unless you are picking up a passenger, as this area is active loading only and those found parking here will be issued a citation.
- Circle the airport or wait in the terminal area for a rematch ride, as airport authorities may issue citations. Rematch is a feature that enables you to be matched with additional passengers shortly before or after completing a drop off. This means you can receive a ride request shortly after dropping off a passenger without returning to the assignment area.
- Wait for ride requests anywhere except the designated staging lot. Soliciting is not permitted on airport property and may result in a ban from our platform as well as the airport.
Drop-offs:
- DO
- Drop off passengers curbside at the terminal entrance, at your passenger’s carrier of choice.
- Use lower or upper levels for dropoffs as requested by your passenger
- DO NOT...

Airport Placard
- In addition to your Lyft emblem, you are required to display an airport placard in your vehicle when giving rides at ATL airport.
- In order to receive your ATL Placard, your vehicle age must be 2013 or newer. If you've just been approved to drive, you should receive your placard shortly.
- Place the placard and emblems as depicted in the below diagram. Don’t forget the emblem on the rear window as well.
To order a placard:
- Open ‘Vehicles and Devices’ in the driver app.

- Short ride bump: If you receive a request for a short ride from the airport after waiting in the queue, you may qualify for a higher queue position after you drop off your passenger. You'll receive a message after dropping off to let you know you have the option to return to the staging area for a preferred spot in the queue.
