Professional Black Car drivers resources

All Black Car drivers must meet Lyft’s standard driver requirements for their region. In some cities, only Professional Black Car drivers who meet elevated document requirements are able to give Black rides or perform pickups at select airport zones.

Professional Black Car driver requirements overview
Professional Black Car drivers on the Lyft platform must meet the following criteria:
Note: Taxis and stretch limousines are not allowed on the Lyft platform.

Note: Once your drivers accept the fleet invite, they won't be able to drive a personal vehicle. If they want to leave the fleet to drive a personal vehicle, use the ‘Contact Us’ button at the bottom of this page for assistance.

California requirements
Drivers must meet the standard requirements for being a Lyft driver in addition to:
  1. Airport permit (required for airport pickups)
  2. TCP Permit - Class A, B or P
    1. Driver must be listed as an owner/managing member of the TCP certificate holder entity
  3. Certificate of Liability Insurance with a $750,000 minimum
  4. Subcarrier Agreement
Note: Only eligible fleet drivers can operate under another entity’s TCP permit.
Florida requirements
Miami:
Drivers must meet all standard requirements for being a Lyft driver in addition to providing or maintaining:
  1. Chauffeur's driver permit (Miami Dade County, City of Miami, Broward County, Palm Beach County)
  2. Certificate of Liability with a $300,000 combined single limit
  3. Subcarrier Agreement
Orlando:
Drivers must meet all standard requirements for being a Lyft driver in addition to providing or maintaining:
  1. Vehicle-for-hire Driver Permit (City of Orlando or Osceola County)
  2. Certificate of Liability with a $300,000 combined single limit

Tampa:
Drivers must meet all standard requirements for being a Lyft driver in addition to providing or maintaining:
  1. Hillsborough County Tax Collector public vehicle driver’s license (PVDL)
  2. Certificate of Liability with a $500,000 combined single limit

Drivers must meet all standard requirements for being a Lyft driver in addition to providing or maintaining:
  1. Vehicle with Georgia limousine plates
  2. ATL Airport decal (required for airport pickups)
