Lyft Cash
Lyft Cash is a payment method that helps you to plan ahead and budget more easily for upcoming rides.
This feature lets you load Lyft Cash into your Lyft account, and use that to pay for rides. Note: Lyft Cash can’t be used for all Lyft charges, such as lost & found fees, damage fees, and gift cards.

How it works
When you have Lyft Cash, it becomes set as your default payment method automatically. Any remaining ride charges will be charged to back up payment methods in your wallet. You can turn this default setting off at any time within Payment.
If you have any expiring Lyft Cash, we’ll spend down that amount first.
You can add Lyft Cash in two ways. To do a one-time top-up:
- Select ‘You’
- Select 'Payment'
- In the Lyft Cash card, tap ‘Add cash’
- Select amount and tap ‘Check out’
You can add Lyft Cash using:
- Credit cards
- Debit cards
- Bank accounts
- Prepaid cards
- Gift cards
Once you add cash to your Lyft account, Lyft Cash becomes your default payment method. Lyft Cash you pay for, or Lyft Cash coming from gift cards, never expires.
You may also earn promotional Lyft Cash through rewards programs. Promotional Lyft Cash may be subject to expiration and will always include an expiration date.
You can check your balance, see expiration dates, or switch Lyft Cash on/off anytime through the ‘Payment’ tab of the Lyft app.
Auto refills
For a seamless, easy experience, we recommend turning on auto refill. We’ll charge your selected payment method whenever your Lyft Cash balance drops below $15.
To enable or disable auto refill:
- Select 'You'
- Select 'Payment'
- Select 'Auto Refill' under Lyft Cash
Availability
Lyft Cash is available in the US and Canada. However, Cash Load and Gift Card features are currently US-only.
Lyft Cash is not available to all users, and can't be used for all Lyft charges.
Lyft Cash Rewards
Lyft Cash Rewards is a program that allows riders to add Lyft Cash to their account and set up auto refill, in exchange for benefits like up to 5% Lyft Cash back and ride perks.
Eligibility: Lyft Cash Rewards is available only to selected riders in the US. Lyft Cash Rewards applies to all ride types except Wait & Save and Bikes & Scooters. To earn benefits, Lyft Cash auto refill must be turned on, and Lyft Cash must be used as the payment method.
Earning: Promotional Lyft Cash will accrue based on the dollar amount spent on qualifying Rides, excluding taxes, fees, tips, and Lyft Up donations.
Expiration: Promotional Lyft Cash expires exactly 60 days from the date earned.

Lyft Business Rewards
Eligibility: Lyft Business Rewards is available to riders with business profiles from contracted organisations.
Earning: Promotional Lyft Cash will accrue based on the dollar amount spent on Qualifying Rides, excluding taxes, fees, tips, and Lyft Up donations.
Expiration: Lyft Cash expires after 60 days from the date earned.
Travel partners: You can link one travel partner account (Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines or Hilton Honors).
Lyft Business Rewards is subject to modification, cancellation, or limitation at Lyft's discretion.
