The CDC recently updated its guidance for transportation, and masks are now optional in all rides (with the exception of some cities).
We know that everyone has different comfort levels, so you can still wear a mask during the ride if you'd like.
Due to local regulations, riders and drivers in these cities are required to agree to our Health Safety Commitment:
Los Angeles, CA
New York City, NY
Orange County, CA
San Bernardino, CA
As a part of this commitment, everyone in the ride must agree to the following:
Don’t ride if you have COVID-19, think you have it, or have related symptoms
Wear a mask the entire ride
Use hand sanitizer
Turn off recirculated air, and keep windows down when possible
Leave the front passenger seat open
For everyone else outside these regions, we recommend following the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Wearing a mask is now optional for everyone in the car.
Riders and drivers are no longer required to keep the front seat empty or the windows open.
While riders and drivers can always decline any ride they don’t wish to take, health safety reasons – like not wearing a mask – will no longer appear as cancellation options in the app.
We ask that you don’t drive or take a ride if you have COVID-19 or any related symptoms.
