    Shared ride commuter benefits

Lyft has partnered with WageWorks®, Zenefits, Benefit Resource, Commuter Benefit Solutions, Gusto, EBPA, Navia, and Ameriflex to help make your commute easier. When you take Shared rides, you can save up to 37% by using pre-tax dollars to pay for your commute.
    What are commuter benefits?
Commuter benefits are employer-provided benefit programs that allow employees to use pre-tax dollars toward their monthly commuting expenses for transit, vanpooling, bicycling, and work-related parking costs.
What’s the benefit of using commuter benefits on Shared rides?
When you pay for Shared rides using your commuter benefits prepaid card, you can save up to 37% using pre-tax dollars on your door-to-door rides. Your amount of savings will depend on your tax bracket. Check with your benefits provider for your exact savings!
Who can use commuter benefits on Shared rides?
Riders are eligible to use pre-tax dollars on Shared rides if their employer provides commuter benefits through eligible providers (see list below) and if the rides are taken within the Shared coverage areas. To check if your city offers Shared rides, refer to your Cities page.
Not all employers offer commuter benefits, so please check with your employer.
Are Shared Saver rides eligible for commuter benefits?
While we do not offer commuter benefits for Shared Saver rides at this time, we plan to do so in the near future.
Which commuter benefits providers are eligible?
We work with AmeriflexBenefit ResourceGustoEBPACommuter Benefit Solutions, Navia, WageWorks, and Zenefits. If your employer has a different provider, contact your employer or provider to determine whether your pre-tax dollars can be used to pay for Shared rides.

    2. Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner
    3. Tap the ‘Payment’ tab
    4. Tap ‘Add credit card’

    1. Open the Lyft app
    2. Tap on the Shared mode
    3. Set your destination and pickup location
    4. Make sure your commuter benefits prepaid card is selected as the method of payment. You won’t be able to change this after the ride is requested.

What type of car will I get if I use my commuter benefits?
When you request a Shared ride using your commuter benefits prepaid card, you will ride in a car with at least six passenger seats.
Can I elect to have my commuter benefits provider pay Lyft directly, instead of adding a prepaid card?
Not at the time. Some providers don’t offer that capability, but we hope to support that feature with providers in the future.
Are there particular times of day when I have to use my commuter benefits prepaid card?
No. Your commuter benefits prepaid card is meant to be used for rides to and from work, but since people may need to get to work at different times, there are no hour restrictions.
Can I bring other riders with me?
Yes, you can bring one other person if you request a Shared ride for two people. Please note that just like any other Shared ride, an additional fee applies for an additional rider.
Will my ETA be the same when I use a commuter card vs. a personal card?
Since there are fewer cars with six seats or more on the road, your ETA may be longer than usual when you request a Shared ride using your commuter benefits prepaid card. We recommend requesting your Shared ride with commuter benefits a few minutes early.
