You’ll need to enter a code to verify your phone number whenever you log in to the Lyft app. We’ll send this code to you in a text message.
If you’re not receiving this text message, or if your phone number has changed, follow the steps below to fix the issue.
Not getting a verification code
If you’re not getting a verification code, you might be unsubscribed from account alerts.
To receive account alerts:
Close the Lyft app.
Text START to 46080 (or 59381 for Canada) and follow the instructions.
Open the Lyft app again.
Use the ‘Get started’ button to enter your phone number.
Enter the verification code we text you.
If you don’t get the code right away, wait a few minutes to see if it comes through.
If you still haven’t received your code:
Tap 'Problem receiving the code?' when it appears on the screen.
Use ‘Call me with the code’ and we’ll call your phone with a new verification code.
Can't access old phone number
If you can’t access the phone number on your Lyft account, we can use your email address to help you log in.
To update your phone number:
Open the Lyft app.
Tap ‘Get started.’
Under the phone number field, tap ‘Find my account.’
Enter the email address on your Lyft account.
Open the email we send you.
Use the recovery button to sign in with your new phone number.
Once you enter your new phone number, we’ll text you a verification code. After you enter your code, your account’s phone number will be updated.
"We couldn't find your account" message
If you get an email that says we can’t find your account, the email address you entered isn’t what we have on file.
You can follow the steps above to try a different email address, or you can reach out to our support team.

First and last name
Old phone number
New phone number
Current email address
