How to get premium ride requests
Your qualifying vehicle must be set as your active vehicle to start receiving premium ride requests.
To set your active vehicle and view your ride type preferences:
- Tap ‘Vehicle and Devices.’
- Tap ‘Your Vehicles.’
You’ll be able to see details for each vehicle such as:
- Available ride types.
- Eligibility details for all ride types.
- Locked ride types that have additional requirements.
If you choose not to drive Standard rides, it may reduce the number of requests you receive.
You might still see standard ride requests in your app. Skipping these standard ride requests won’t affect your acceptance rate.

Black and Black SUV ride qualifications
Drivers must have at least a 4.85 rating after they’ve completed 50 rides to give Black rides.
If your rating falls below 4.85, you'll need to bring it back up with other ride types before you can get Black rides.
To qualify for Black or Black SUV rides, you must:
- Drive in a city where Black or Black SUV is available
- Drive a black, 2018 or newer qualifying vehicle (some restrictions apply, see list for more info)
Service flags related to cleanliness, safety, and behavior will lead to temporary suspensions from having access to Black/Black SUV modes. These flags are based on rider feedback.
In the last 50 Black/Black SUV mode rides, you can receive a maximum of 2 cleanliness flags, and 2 safety flags, and 2 driver behavior flags. If you receive more than 2 flags in any category, you'll be temporarily suspended from accessing Black/Black SUV mode.
After the first violation for receiving too many service flags, you’ll receive a warning. After the second violation, you’ll be suspended from having access to Black/Black SUV modes for one day. After the third violation, you’ll be suspended for three days. After the fourth violation, you’ll be suspended for a week.
If you’re temporarily suspended, you’ll still be eligible to drive modes other than Black/Black SUV.
Note: Your flag history will be reset after every suspension.
In Boston, Atlanta, Orlando, and Chicago, only commercial livery drivers will be eligible for Black/Black SUV modes. Non-compliant livery drivers will be blocked from the platform until compliance requirements are met.
Drivers using Lyft Black in Boston, Atlanta, Orlando, and Chicago must be professional drivers with commercial auto insurance and have all permits required by their city to operate a commercial livery vehicle in their area. Personal auto insurance does not qualify.
