ID Submission
At Lyft, we’re always working to protect our community and keep your account more secure.
Before requesting a ride, we may ask passengers to submit the following.
- ID submission: Scan a government-issued ID. If you can’t provide a government-issued ID, there are other options listed under ‘Accepted IDs’.
- Take a photo of yourself: Take and submit a photo of yourself. This will become your profile photo to help drivers identify you. You can update this photo later in your profile.
This helps us fight fraud which helps protect the Lyft community.

- Driver’s license - scan the front of the license card with your name and photo

- Tap ‘Next,’ then enter the information required to contact support.
- Attach a photo of your document and add a description.
- When finished, tap ‘Submit’.
Our team will review and get back to you.

In some cases, instead of providing a photo ID, you can add your bank account as a payment method:
- Open the Lyft main menu, then tap 'Payment.'
- Tap ‘+ Add payment method’ and then tap ‘Online banking’.
- Tap ‘Continue’ on the ‘Link your bank account’ screen.

You aren’t required to use it to pay for rides.
