Get cashback for gas with Upside

Earn cash back per gallon of gas through Lyft’s partnership with Upside. The higher your Lyft Rewards tier, the more you can earn when you fill up at eligible gas stations.
Tier levels:
  • Platinum and Elite drivers: earn $0.08–$0.32 back
  • Gold drivers: earn $0.05–$0.27 back
  • All other drivers: earn $0.05–$0.25 back
You can receive Upside cash back when you pay for gas at eligible gas stations with a physical card linked to your account. You can link multiple cards to your account.
To earn cash back on gas purchases, open your Lyft Driver app:
  1. While offline, tap the driving options button located to the right of the 'Go Online' button.
  2. Tap ‘Nearby gas discounts.’
  3. Zoom in or out on the map to see eligible stations.
  4. Tap the pin to select the gas station. You’ll see a bubble with information about that specific gas station.
  5. Tap ‘Get cash back’ to claim the offer and navigate to the gas station.
  6. Pay at the pump with the physical card linked to your Upside account. Your cash back will appear in your earnings in 2-4 days. Digital wallet transactions aren’t eligible for cash back.
You’ll pay the full price up front, then get cash back added to your earnings. You can check the cash back amount in your Earnings tab.
Cashback eligibility
Lyft Direct users earn cash back on gas and receive additional Upside benefits based on their driving tier.
To receive both benefits, link your Lyft Direct card in the Driver app or claim gas cash back at stations marked 'Upside' in the Lyft Direct app.
To earn the extra cash back, you must use your physical Lyft Direct debit card at an eligible gas station and pay at the pump. Transactions made with digital wallets aren’t eligible.
Your Lyft Direct debit card earns you cash back on gas purchases based on your driver tier: Elite (10%), Platinum (7%), Gold (3%), Silver (2%), and all others (1%). You can earn an additional 1% at select locations through the Mastercard Easy Savings program. Simply pay at the pump and use the Lyft Direct app to manage your rewards.
To remain eligible for cash back offers, you must receive a payout to your Lyft Direct account at least once every 90 days.
You’ll instantly become eligible again once you receive a payout to your Lyft Direct account.
Payments via third-party apps aren’t eligible for cash back. Use your physical Lyft Direct business debit card to pay.
Terms and conditions
Cash back is only available at participating stations and cash back per gallon varies by location and Lyft Rewards tier as applicable. Gas promotions are currently not available in Canada, New Jersey, or Wisconsin.
Tap ‘Lyft Rewards’ in your Lyft Driver App to see more information on this Lyft Rewards perk, including the cash back savings available based on tier.
This program, busy hours, and rewards, are subject to change and may not be available to all drivers. The availability of certain perks may vary depending on supply or market conditions.
You must maintain your driver tier requirements to continue accessing associated rewards.
Maximizing cash back with Lyft Direct
Link a debit or credit card to your Upside account, then pay with the physical card at the pump to get cash back. Transactions made with digital wallets, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, aren’t eligible for cash back.
Add a payment card anytime in the ‘Pay and Tax Info’ tab in your app menu. From there, locate the ‘Upside gas cash back’ section and add your payment card.
Link your Lyft Direct debit card to your account to get extra cash back.
When you link a new payment card you'll receive cash back on future transactions with that card. However, you cannot receive cash back for transactions made before the card was linked.
