Lyft Silver

Lyft Silver is a simplified version of the Lyft app designed for independent older adults. Lyft Silver riders can easily get where they’re going with the option of live phone support, and they can share ride details with people they trust.
Sending a Lyft Silver invite
If you have an older adult in your life, you can invite friends and family to use Lyft Silver in any US state.
To send a Lyft Silver invite:
  1. Go to the main menu of the Lyft app.
  2. Select ‘Lyft Silver.’
  3. Select ‘Send an invite.’
  4. Add a gift card and the amount or select ‘Maybe later’ to only send an invitation.
  5. Send an invite to a contact.
You must have a valid payment method on your account to send a gift card.
After sending an invite, you may be added as a trusted contact for an older adult using Lyft Silver. As a trusted contact, you’ll receive ride updates and have the ability to send money to them.
Note: To access invite links, you need to be on the latest version of the app
Turning Lyft Silver on and off
To turn Lyft Silver on:
  1. Select ‘You’ in the bottom right of your Lyft app to open the main menu.
  2. Select ‘Lyft Silver’ to turn it on.
The app may restart to take you back to the home screen.
To turn Lyft Silver off:
  1. Select ‘You’ in the bottom right of your Lyft app to open the main menu.
  2. Select ‘Lyft Silver’ to turn it off.
The app may restart to take you back to the home screen.
Ride types used for Lyft Silver
When your app has Lyft Silver turned on and you request a Standard or Wait & Save mode, you're more likely to match with cars of a certain step height that are easy to get in and out of.
The ride types include:
  1. Standard: Standard car for up to 4 riders.
  2. Wait & Save: Lock in a lower price when it’s busy — it’s our most affordable personal ride. Once you book, there's a longer wait so we can pair you with the best driver for your route and pickup spot.
  3. Extra Comfort: Rides in newer, roomier vehicles with top-rated drivers.
  4. Access: Wheelchair-accessible vehicle for fixed frame wheelchairs and up to 2 additional passengers.
  5. Priority Pickup: Get a faster pickup at a slightly higher price.
  6. Black: Premium black car service with leather seats for up to 4 riders
  7. XL: SUV for up to 6 riders
  8. Black SUV: Premium black SUV with leather seats for up to 6 riders
  9. Green: Requesting Green will pair you with an electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid for a lower-emission ride. You’ll only be able to choose Green when there are EVs or hybrids nearby.
Note: Older adults may be given a longer wait time to reach the vehicle.
Lyft Silver gift cards
Sending a gift card
To send an older adult a gift card:
  1. Open the Lyft app and select Lyft Silver.
  2. Select ‘Send an invite, then ‘Add a gift card.’
  3. After choosing the amount that you want to send, select ‘Purchase gift card.’
  4. Send the invite to an older adult.
Note: An error message may appear if you don’t have a payment method in your Lyft app.
You can purchase up to five gift cards for a recipient within 24 hours. There is a $500 maximum for gift card purchases within those 24-hours.
When you choose to send a digital gift card to someone’s email address, we’ll email them a link that lets them apply the gift card to their account automatically. This email will also have a 16-digit gift card code, which they can enter in their Lyft app.
Lyft gift card purchases aren’t transferable and can’t be voided or refunded.
Receiving a gift card
You can pay using Lyft gift cards on all Lyft rides in the U.S. and Canada. You can redeem gift cards through Lyft Cash in your app.
You can accept a gift card through a Lyft Silver invite or through email. If you accept a gift card through an invite, it will be automatically applied to your next rides.
If you see the gift card through email, you can add a retailer gift card or a digital gift card code to your Lyft Cash balance by following these steps:
  1. Select the main menu.
  2. Select ‘Gift card.’
  3. Enter the gift card code and PIN.
Note: Gift cards must be redeemed in the same currency they were purchased. Gift cards purchased in Canadian Dollars (CAD) can only be redeemed by recipients in Canada. Gift cards purchased in US Dollars (USD) can only be redeemed by recipients in the US.

To speak to an agent:
  1. Tap ‘Get help’ in the top right corner of your Lyft app.
  2. Add your phone number and select ‘Call me.’
If phone support is unavailable at the time of your call, select ‘Learn more’ to find the answers to frequently asked questions. Select ‘Report a safety issue’ in case of an emergency.
