Preferred Driver for drivers

Preferred Driver status helps you receive more ride requests and earn 5% more on Standard rides in select regions.
Note: The additional 5% earnings on Standard rides is only available in select regions.
To qualify for Preferred Driver, you must meet certain targets for your:
  1. Acceptance rate.
  2. Cancellation rate.
  3. Smooth cruiser score (when applicable).
  4. Rider safety flags.
California only: To qualify for Preferred Driver, you must meet certain criteria for your smooth cruiser score (when applicable) and rider safety flags.
This criteria may differ depending on specific targets.

How it works
You’ll unlock Preferred Driver status each day you meet all targets. Preferred Driver status resets every day at 5 AM local time.
Go to the Preferred Driver detail page to see your scores and targets. Targets may vary depending on your region, and your scores update daily, so you might not see changes immediately.
Benefits
Drivers with Preferred Driver status receive more ride requests.
In select regions, drivers may also earn 5% more on Standard rides. The additional 5% earnings is based on base earnings, after adjustments and before tips.
Note: You won’t get the additional earnings if you use location filters or give one of the following rides:
  1. Shared
  2. Black
  3. Black SUV
  4. Wheelchair accessible rides
Targets
Go to your Preferred Driver detail page to see your scores and exact targets. Targets may vary depending on your region, and your scores update daily, so you might not see changes immediately.
You’ll unlock Preferred Driver status each day you meet all targets. Preferred Driver status resets every day at 5 AM local time.
To unlock Preferred Driver, you’ll need to meet targets for the following criteria:
  1. Acceptance rate: Your acceptance rate is based on your last 100 ride requests.
  2. Cancellation rate: Your cancel rate is based on your last 100 accepted rides within the last year.
  3. Smooth cruiser score: Your smooth cruiser score is based on your last 100 completed rides within the last year. This score focuses on 4 driving habits (braking, turning, speed, and using a phone mount).
  4. Safety flags: You must have fewer than 3 in your last 100 accepted rides with the last year. If we cannot determine your smooth cruiser score (most often due to an unsupported mobile device), you must have 0 safety flags in your last 100 accepted rides within the last year. Passengers can report safety issues for accidents, unsafe driving, and other inappropriate conduct.
You will automatically unlock Preferred Driver status if you:
  1. Have received fewer than 30 ride requests in the last year, OR
  2. Completed fewer than 20 rides in the last year
California only
  1. Smooth cruiser score: Your smooth cruiser score is based on your last 100 completed rides within the last year. This score focuses on 4 driving habits (braking, turning, speed, and using a phone mount).
  2. Safety flags: You must have fewer than 3 in your last 100 accepted rides with the last year. If we cannot determine your smooth cruiser score (most often due to an unsupported mobile device), you must have 0 safety flags in your last 100 accepted rides within the last year. Passengers can report safety issues for accidents, unsafe driving, and other inappropriate conduct.
Opting out
If you’d like to opt out of Preferred Driver, open the Lyft Driver app, then:
  1. Go to the main menu, then select ‘Settings.’
  2. Select ‘Preferred Driver.’
  3. Turn off the option.
If you opt out of Preferred Driver, you will not receive any benefits, even if you meet the targets for each criteria.
