How Amp works
Amp is the secret to smoother pickups and better, brighter rides.
New rides
Your Amp shows you when you receive a new ride request.
Beaconing
When you're picking up a passenger, their app shows them the color of your Amp. This helps passengers find your vehicle for a faster, easier pickup.
Welcome
After you pick up a passenger, the back of your Amp welcomes them by name. It may also show special messages for holidays or certain events.
Getting an Amp
Amp distribution has been temporarily paused in most U.S. regions. We’ll notify eligible drivers when distribution continues.
To check your amp eligibility status in the app:
- Open the main menu, then tap ‘Vehicle and Devices.'
- Tap ‘Amp,' then tap ‘Eligibility.’
From here, you’ll see how many rides you need to complete before becoming eligible (if not already).
You’ll also see an option to order an Amp directly from your device.
You aren't authorized to use an Amp if your account has been deactivated or you aren't currently approved to drive.
Express Drive
Some rental vehicles come with an Amp. Please take care of your Amp and return it with your Express Drive vehicle to avoid a fee.
Amps have limited availability, so your rental car might not come with one.
How to turn on your Amp
Push the power button once to turn your Amp on or off.
To reset your Amp, hold down the power button for 10 seconds. You'll have to pair your Amp again if you reset it.
Powering your Amp
Newer Amps need to be plugged in while they're turned on.
If you have an older Amp, the battery can last up to 8 hours. You can charge the battery with the micro USB cable that came with your Amp. If your Amp battery is low, you can plug it in to keep using it while you're giving rides.
If your Amp's power cable stops working, you can replace it with a standard micro USB cable. We aren’t able to provide replacement power cables.
If you have an older Amp, extreme temperatures may affect its battery life. In hot or cold weather, we recommend bringing your Amp indoors when you aren't using it.
How to pair your Amp
To pair your Amp with your Lyft Driver app:
- Open the main menu, then tap ‘Vehicle and Devices.'
- Tap ‘Amp,' then tap ‘Pair my Amp.’
To pair your Amp, you'll need to turn on your phone's bluetooth and turn on your Amp.
After you pair your Amp, it'll automatically connect to your app next time you turn it on.
If you're having trouble pairing your Amp, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to reset it.
How to install your Amp
