WAV rides

If you need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) that can fit your fixed-frame wheelchair, we’re happy to help. We offer access to WAV rides through a ride type called 'Wheelchair’.
Note: ‘Wheelchair’ was formerly known as ‘Access.’
When you request a Wheelchair ride, we'll pair you with available drivers who can accommodate a non-folding or motorized wheelchair or scooter. Wheelchair rides aren’t available in every market yet. See where you can request an Wheelchair ride here.
If you're not in an area with Wheelchair rides, we'll help you find local companies that provide WAV ride options.
To request a WAV, you’ll first need to turn on ‘Wheelchair access’ in your Lyft app settings. Once you turn it on, you’ll see a new ride type called ‘Wheelchair’ when you request a ride. If you don’t see Wheelchair as a ride type when you turn on this feature, learn more about other ways to get a WAV ride.
If you can fold and stow your mobility device in the trunk or backseat of a vehicle, you can take any kind of Lyft ride. Read more about our foldable wheelchair policy.

Requesting a Wheelchair ride
If Wheelchair rides are available in your region, you’ll now see ‘Wheelchair’ as a ride type when you request a ride. Select ‘Wheelchair’ to be paired with an available WAV.
If you don’t see Wheelchair as a ride type, Wheelchair rides may not be available in your region. See Where Wheelchair rides are available for a full list of regions with Wheelchair rides.
If Wheelchair rides aren't available in your region
You can turn on wheelchair access even if Wheelchair rides aren’t available in your region.
You’ll be able to request other types of Lyft rides with wheelchair access turned on. When you do, we’ll send a text or a notification to let you know that the vehicle won’t be a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. You'll also receive a link to a list of local WAV options you may be able to use.
If needed, you can then cancel your Lyft ride. If you’re charged a cancellation fee, contact us using the form below.
You don't need to request a Wheelchair ride if you can fold and stow your mobility device in the trunk or backseat of a vehicle. Read more about our foldable wheelchair policy.
