    Rental car maintenance and repairs

Need maintenance or repairs for your rental vehicle? Start by selecting your Express Drive partner below:

    Hertz

    Routine maintenance
Examples: Oil changes, tire rotations, etc.
What to do: Go to the Hertz or Pep Boys branch where you picked up your rental.
Your costs: There's no charge for routine maintenance. Only Hertz/Pep Boys can approve maintenance outside their facility. There are no reimbursements for maintenance outside of Hertz/Pep Boys approved vendors.
    Damage and repairs
Examples: Brake or transmission issues, tire replacement, windshield repair, etc.
What to do: Go to the Hertz or Pep Boys branch where you picked up your rental. If the damage prevents you from driving, call Hertz Roadside Assistance: 1-800-654-5060.
Your costs: It’s possible you’ll have charges for damages deducted from your rental deposit if you’re found to be at fault. See your Hertz rental agreement for more information.
    Collisions and accidents
What to do: Safety comes first. Are you and your passenger okay? Call 911. Report the accident via your Driver App or go to lft.to/accidentorcitation.
    You’ll need:
    • Your driver's license
    • Insurance information of everyone involved
    • Photos of all four sides of your vehicle to document any damage
If your vehicle needs towing, call 1-800-654-5060 for Hertz Roadside Assistance.
Your costs: You're responsible for rental fees until your rental reservation has ended, so it's important to report any incidents to us as soon as possible. Until a third-party is found at fault, your rental deposit may be used to cover part of the deductible. Learn more about Express Drive insurance coverage.
Your account: Your driver account will be deactivated. This means you can't drive with Lyft until the accident investigation is complete. Lyft’s Safety team will contact you to discuss next steps.

    Flexdrive

    Routine maintenance
Examples: Oil changes, tire rotations, etc.
Flexdrive requires vehicles to get routine checks so that the vehicle stays in good condition. Rental rates include all preventative maintenance.
What to do: Go to a Lyft authorized service location. When you arrive, show the vendor your ARI ID card located in the glovebox of your rental. This card provides the Flexdrive Roadside Assistance phone number (1-833-274-5938). The vendor will complete the service and bill Flexdrive.
Your cost: There's no charge for routine maintenance. Only Flexdrive approved providers can approve maintenance. There are no reimbursements for maintenance outside of Flexdrive approved vendors.
    Charging your electric vehicle (EV)
If you rent an EV through Flexdrive, your rental costs cover unlimited charging. Head to the nearest charging station if you have less than 40-50 miles of battery remaining.
How to charge: Find the closest charging station through the Plugshare app (or Electrify America app for Denver renters). From the app's home screen:
    1. Open ‘Map Filters’ (tap the funnel icon at the lower right hand side)
    2. Scroll down to review ‘Networks’ first. Deselect all options, leaving only the Charging Partners specified in your rental agreement
    3. Scroll up to then review ‘Plugs.’ Deselect all options, leaving only “CCS/SAE”
    4. Set ‘Location Filters’ to include “Public Locations,” “In Use Locations” and “Requires Fee”
    5. Close ‘Map Filters’ to see the available charging stations in your area
    How to charge:
    • For EVgo or ChargePoint: Use the RFID charging card attached to your rental keys to pay for charging
    • For Electrify America: Use the Electrify America App to find a nearby charging station and follow instructions
Note: Make sure to only use the Charging Partner specified in your rental agreement. Different regions have different Charging Partners. You'll need to pay to charge on other networks outside of the Charging Partners in your region.
    Damage and repairs
Examples: Body damage, cracked headlights, cracked windshields, etc.

Your cost: Your rental deposit may be used to cover damage costs if you're found at fault. See your Flexdrive rental agreement for more information.
