Lyft Family

Lyft Family lets you link accounts with other riders and share a payment method for rides.
One person serves as the account admin and can add up to 10 family members to the account.
Family members can then request rides using the shared payment method. When a family member requests a ride using the shared payment, the admin receives notifications and can share ride details, including driver information and live location tracking.

Members can only belong to one Family Account at a time
To add a family member:
  1. Open your Lyft app and tap the 'Family' tab under your account settings
  2. Select 'Invite a Family Member'
  3. Choose the member type: Lyft (18+), Lyft Silver (older adult), Lyft Teen (ages 13-17)
  4. Enter their contact information
  5. Choose your payment method to share or send a gift card
  6. Review your settings and send the invitation
If the person doesn't have a Lyft account, they'll receive an invitation to join. Invitations expire after 30 days but can be resent if needed.

Removing family members
As the admin, you can remove family members at any time through your Family Hub.
Removed members will receive an email notification confirming the change. Members will keep their personal ride history but lose the family connection.
Members can leave the family voluntarily except for Teens.
To remove a member:
  1. In the Lyft Rider app, select your profile
  2. Under ‘Account’, select ‘Family’
  3. Select the member's name then 'Remove from family'
Family payment info
Family members can pay for their Lyft rides using the admin's saved payment method. Only the admin can add or remove payment methods, see payment details, and share a payment method with family members.
Only one payment method can be shared within Lyft Family.
To update the shared payment method:
  1. In the Lyft Rider app, select your profile
  2. Under ‘Account’, select ‘Family’
  3. View the ‘Shared payment’ section and follow the prompts to update or share the payment method
Ride location sharing and ride history
When a family member requests a ride using the Lyft Family payment method, the account admin receives a notification.
To track rides in real time or view ride history:
  1. In the Lyft Rider app, select your profile
  2. Under ‘Account’, select ‘Family’
  3. View live location tracking and driver details for active rides, or check 'Recent rides' for ride history
