Wait time fees
Note: There are no wait time fees in Canada.
Wait time fees help keep our platform running smoothly – try to be on time and ready to meet your driver when they arrive at the pickup location.
Wait time fees may be charged at a per minute rate when your driver has arrived at the pickup location and has been waiting for more than 2 minutes (5 minutes for Black and Black SUV). If a driver arrives early, fees may apply 2 minutes after the original estimated pickup time (also applies to Black and Black SUV early arrivals).Additional wait time charges may apply to your trip depending on how busy it is. Wait time fees vary by location.
If your ride is canceled and you’re charged a cancellation fee, you won’t be charged for wait time. Wait time fees do not apply to:
- Lyft Access
- Lyft Assisted
- Car Seat rides
Riders with disabilities who need more time to board a vehicle, or those who frequently accompany riders with disabilities, can submit a waiver for wait time fees if their disability affects their ability to board within the standard timeframe. Riders with a valid waiver for disability are exempt from wait time fees and will be refunded for previous wait time fee charges upon request.
You can request a wait time fee refund if you or someone you frequently travel with has a disability that affects your ability to board within the standard timeframe (2 minutes, or 5 minutes for Black and Black SUV).
