Canceling a transfer
You can't cancel the transfer once you cash out with Express Pay.
Eligible earnings
The following are eligible earnings for Express Pay:
  1. Ride earnings
  2. Tips
  3. Cancel fees
  4. Bonuses
You might not see those incentives immediately, because they’re calculated at the end of the Lyft week (Monday at 5 AM) or they’re scheduled to pay out on a specific date.
You can cash out a bonus payment with Express Pay once it’s added to your earnings. If you don’t cash it out, we’ll automatically send it out in your weekly deposit.
Debit card requirements
Express Pay won't work without a valid debit card. To use Express Pay, the debit card must be:
  1. A debit card, not a credit or prepaid card.
  2. Issued in the country you’re driving in.
  3. Connected to a checking account.
  4. Attached to a bank account with a balance of $1.00 or more.
If an Express Pay transfer fails, we'll ask you to update your debit card.
Issues
Skip to:
Can't cash out
To cash out with Express pay, you must have:
  1. Correct tax information.
  2. At least $5.85 in earnings (or $5 for New York drivers).
  3. 5 transfers or less in one day. (Note: New York drivers get one transfer per day.)
Note: After your fifth transfer, you’ll need to wait 24 hours before you can use Express Pay again. Your bank may further limit how many times per day you can receive an Express Pay transfer.
Lower deposit than expected
Earnings eligible for Express Pay deposits may decrease on Tuesdays because that’s when we send weekly deposits. Once we send your weekly deposit, your earnings are on the way to your checking account and no longer available for Express Pay.
While these scenarios are less common, you could have a lower deposit than expected because of:
  1. Unsettled debt on your Lyft account.
  2. Backup withholding notice (or “B notice”).
  3. Wage garnishment.
If you think one of these less common scenarios applies to you, tap ‘Contact us’ below for more information.
Can't add a new card
A new card added to Express Pay will only work if it’s a debit card that:
  1. Connects to a checking account.
  2. Supports push-to-debit transactions.
If you can’t add a new card to Express Pay, it may be because the card:
  1. Connects to a savings or business account instead of a checking account.
  2. Is a prepaid or credit card instead of a debit card.
  3. Doesn’t support push-to-debit transactions. If you’re not sure, contact your bank to check.
When you add a new card, you’ll receive a text message asking you to confirm your changes. Follow the steps in the text exactly to finish adding your card.
If you didn’t get this text message, follow these steps:
  1. Close the Lyft Driver app.
  2. Text START to 46080 (or 59381 for Canada) and follow the instructions.
  3. Open the app again.
  4. Retry adding your Express Pay card.
Note: Message and data rates may apply.
Cashed out to a canceled card
If your debit card or account info isn't up-to-date, your transfer will be declined. If this happens, we'll text you with instructions on how to fix it.
Make sure your debit card info is updated before you tap 'Confirm Deposit.' If it isn’t, tap 'Edit’ and submit your updated card info.
Ride not included in transfer
If a ride payment isn't immediately available for Express Pay it may be because the ride is under review (such as for a Terms of Service violation or unusually high fare) or we're legally prevented from including the ride in your Express Pay transfer.
Once a ride payment has been added to your earnings, it’ll be available for Express Pay or your weekly deposit.
Ride under review
You won’t be able to use Express Pay until the ride review is complete. Reviews normally take 48 hours. Even if you can’t use Express Pay, you’ll still receive your available earnings in your weekly deposit as usual.
Typically, rides are reviewed for high fares or potential Terms of Service violations.
Note: Contacting support won't speed up the review process.
Banks without instant payouts
If you're unable to add a card for Express Pay, your bank may not support instant transfers. If your bank doesn't support instant payouts, we'll include your earnings in your weekly deposit as usual. Your earnings will be reflected in your account within 1–3 business days.
To check if your bank supports instant transfers, you can ask your bank or look for your bank on this list.

Express Pay for Express Drive
Express Pay lets you cash out your earnings instantly to a debit card.
Before you can cash out with Express Pay, your earnings must cover your weekly rental charges. After you earn $1 more than your rental charges, you can use Express Pay to cash out on any additional earnings.
Any unpaid rental charges will carry over each week until they’re repaid. Earnings must cover your total outstanding rental costs before you can receive a payout.
After those rental costs are covered, we transfer the rest of your earnings to your bank account.
Note: Since weekly rental charges start over on Mondays at 5 AM, Express Pay won’t be available for you at the beginning of each week.
You can check your progress in your weekly breakdown.
Checking your progress
To view a summary of your earnings and weekly rental charges:
  1. Open the Lyft Driver app.
  2. Tap the dollar amount at the top of the home screen.
  3. Tap ‘View weekly breakdown.’
For a full history of your bills and card charges go to ‘Pay & Tax Info’ and tap ‘Express Drive billing history.’
Included rental costs
Your weekly rental costs is the amount you owe every seven days for your rental. This amount should usually be the same every week.
Your weekly rental costs can include the following (plus any applicable taxes), depending on your specific plan and optional add-ons:
  1. Base rental rate and required fees (such as vehicle licensing fee or standard insurance).
  2. Additional insurance coverage.
  3. Electric vehicle charging plan.
  4. Personal mileage plan (for Flexdrive renters).
Your billing history shows a full summary of your rental costs for the past billing week. To view your bills and card charges:
  1. Open the Lyft Driver app main menu, then tap ‘Account.’
  2. Tap ‘Pay & Tax Info.’
  3. Tap ‘Express Drive billing history.’
Washington drivers
Note: If you rent a vehicle through Express Drive, you’ll be subject to a $0.17 per mile deduction (or $0.44 per mile for City of Seattle rides) for any Lyft rides given using the rented vehicle. The deduction may reduce your earnings below the minimum compensation requirements set forth under Washington law.
