When do I get paid?
Lyft starts the weekly payment process on Tuesdays around 5 AM. It may take 2-3 business days before your deposit shows in your account. This can happen because:
- Different banks may take longer depending on their deposit processes
- Your bank info is outdated or incorrect. Update payment info in the 'Payouts Information' tab of your Driver Dashboard.
If we’re unable to deposit your earnings, we’ll try again after you update your bank account information (or on the following Tuesday if you don't update your information). If you need your cash sooner, try using Express Pay.
Lyft passengers pay drivers ride fare through the app, though riders may also tip with cash.
Driver pay calculation begins when the passenger is in your car and you’ve tapped to pick up in the app. Driver pay includes time spent waiting, starting one minute after you’ve confirmed your arrival (read our step-by-step guide on how to give Lyft rides).
Lyft ride fare includes:
- Base Fare: The amount passengers pay to start the ride
- Cost per mile: The amount you earn per mile in the city where your ride starts
- Cost per minute: The amount you earn per minute in the region where your ride starts
These amounts can be found on the ride region’s rate card. See local pricing on your region's rate card and the relevant rates for each ride in the Earnings Breakdown.
Passengers see an upfront price for each ride. If the destination is changed or a new stop is added, the upfront price is voided and a new price is provided based on route time and distance.
You are always paid based on the ride region's rate card, regardless of what the passenger pays.
In addition to the Lyft ride fare, passengers pay:
- The Service Fee
- Pickup or drop-off Airport fees
- Venue fees
- Applicable tolls and cancellation fees
- Taxes or other applicable fees Lyft is required to collect
Passengers’ Service Fees, airport fees, and other applicable fees or taxes aren’t reflected in the Driver Dashboard's 'Driving History' tab.
Under certain circumstances, you may receive a cancellation fee when your passenger cancels.
Minimum & maximum fares
All rides are subject to minimum and maximum fares for passenger and earnings for you.
- Minimum driver fare: The lowest amount you’ll earn on a ride, even for very short rides and regardless of what the passengers pay. Trips ended before you reach the minimum fare are rounded to this amount.
- Maximum driver fare: The highest amount you’ll receive for a ride. If a passenger’s request takes you past the maximum fare amount, you may want to recommend a different transportation method. Heads up: Unusually high ride amounts are subject to review. Exceedingly long rides (for example, two hours without traffic) may come close to the max fare.

100% of tips from passengers go to drivers. We built tipping into the Lyft app to make it easy for passengers to say thanks, but passengers may also tip with cash.
Lyft Platform Fee
The amount Lyft receives from ride payments is shown in your weekly pay statement, which is available the Thursday after each Lyft week.
Drivers earn the per-mile, per-minute rates identified on their region’s Rate Card regardless of what the passenger pays or Lyft receives. Lyft takes no commission or fees from tips.
Some cities that Lyft operates in use specialized subregion pricing, which may be specialized for distinct areas in a given city.
Check your rate card for subregion rates in your city.
Drivers who pick up passengers in a subregion receive the subregion’s rate in their earnings. Subregion pricing applies to all modes available in a region.
Heads up: Subregions don’t have distinct incentives.
Any incentive offered to a broader city also applies to rides taken in the subregion.
